Reno, Nevada, home of numerous restaurants, coffee shops, cafés and food trucks. Many of these are locally-owned; food that you can only eat here. From vegan to Paleo, Mexican to Basque, no picky eater will starve in Reno.
So let’s hone in on Mexican food. More specifically, burritos. I’m not talking about chain restaurants, I’m talking about ma and pa, locally-owned restaurants. I talked with my roommates, friends and random Facebook friends, to get their opinions on the best burritos in Reno.
Casa Grande – Fajitas Burrito1655 Robb Dr
Reno, NV 89523
This macho-sized, flour-wrapped piece of happiness contains your choice of steak or chicken, Spanish rice and refried beans, covered with mild red ranchero enchilada sauce. But wait, there’s more. The burrito sits on a bed of bell peppers and sautéed onions. The cherries on top? Guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo and shredded cheese.
Super Burrito – Super Burrito500 E Plumb Ln
Reno, NV 89502
Say hello to shredded, ground or asada beef, pork, al pastor or chicken with beans rice, cheese, tomatoes and guacamole. Survey says to order it smothered.
Speedy Burritos – Shredded Beef Wet Burrito w/ Salsa Verde1420 S Wells Ave
Reno, NV 89502
How could you possibly make any burrito better? Soak it in cheese, sour cream with chiles. Inside the soft, flour tortilla is a stuffed pepper, beans and cheese. Is your mouth watering yet?
Tacos El Rey – Wet Chicken Burrito
Shredded chicken, rice, beans, cheese, chiles, tomatoes, and lettuce all stuffed inside a large, flour tortilla. Spilling over the top is enchilada sauce, cheese and radishes. Now I’m hungry.
So now that I’m starving, and I hope you are too, who’s ready for a burrito? I’ll have one of each please. Be sure to check out these places and others in Reno and let me know what you think.
Special thanks to my roommates and friends AND Facebook friends for their input and Yelp for menus and pictures.
